School InformationSchool TimesSchool Day: 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students can be dropped off between 7:45 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. and they will be supervised in the gym. Students should not be on the grounds before 7:45 a.m. because there is no adult supervision until that time. Students on school grounds before 7:45 a.m. will be the responsibility of their parents. The school can not assume responsibility for students before the 7:45 a.m. time. Latchkey is available before school to students who regularly need morning supervision. Breakfast: Breakfast will be served Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. Latchkey Services: Before school, 6:30 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. After school, 3:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Emergency School ClosingsIt shall be the policy of the Holy Family School Board that the decision to cancel for the day will be made in cooperation with the Des Moines Public Schools either by the principal or, in his/her absence, his/her designee. If the Des Moines Public Schools close, we will also close. If the Des Moines Schools have a late start, we will have a late start. If the Des Moines Public Schools have an early dismissal due to bad weather, we will have one, also. Generally, HFS will follow Des Moines Public Schools' closing procedure. Listen to WHO-1040 Radio or Channel 8 for information on late starts, school closings, or early dismissal due to inclement weather. Holy Family School will be listed as "The Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Des Moines" or "Holy Family School". RecordsBirth and baptismal certificates are needed at Kindergarten registration or first time registrations. We will make a copy for permanent files. Baptism and First Eucharist certificates are needed by all incoming 8th graders at registration time.
