Our Students Will Attend The Lion King Performance!
Thanks to the generosity of the our students from grades 3 through 8 will be attending The Lion King at the Civic Center. This experience cannot help but enrich the lives of our students - whose families do not have the economic wherewithal to provide such exposure to the arts.
Our music teacher, Ann Gerdom, has been prefacing this trip with classroom lessons to make this a learning experience. She sees The Lion King as a "wonderful example of the melding of music, story and lyrics, with elements focusing on family, heritage, pride, deceit, friendship, love, life, death, and taking care of the earth - lessons of value to our children."
Tickets were originally purchased for the January 7, 2010 performance. Because of the blizzard and school cancellations that day, the Civic Center has graciously changed the reservation for our students to attend a January 24 performance. The students and faculty are so excited about this opportunity and extremely grateful to the generosity of the many people and businesses who made this possible. Check our website after January 24 for pictures surrounding this event!
