My name is Mrs. Nelson, welcome to 3rd grade!

This is my third year teaching 3rd grade at HFS. Before coming to HFS, I taught 2nd grade for one year in Harlem, NY. I went to college at St. Mary's University of MN in Winona, MN. I'm originally from Minnesota and came to Des Moines when my husband was accepted into medical school here. Some things I like to do outside of school are to cook, scrapbook, and spend time with family. I love teaching because students are so creative. I love seeing students learn and explore in new ways every day. HFS is such a great place to see this happen because our students bring many different backgrounds together to join as one community.
